Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s continued support for advancing the US-Iran peace process and expressed gratitude for Islamabad’s assistance in ensuring the safe return of Iranian crew members and fishermen. Both foreign ministers agreed to remain in close contact and continue diplomatic coordination on matters of mutual interest.
The conversation came a day after Dar announced that Pakistan had facilitated the arrival of 22 Iranian crew members in Karachi. The sailors had recently been interdicted by US authorities, and Pakistan coordinated their transit through its territory to enable their safe return to Iran.
Dar said arrangements were being finalised in coordination with Iranian diplomatic missions to ensure the crew members’ earliest possible repatriation. He added that Pakistan had remained in close contact with both the United States and Iranian authorities throughout the process.
According to the foreign minister, the latest group was the fourth batch of Iranian nationals repatriated through Pakistan during the past two months. More than 70 Iranian citizens, including fishermen and crew members, have now been assisted by Pakistan in returning home.
Dar also thanked the Iranian leadership for its confidence in Pakistan and praised officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other state institutions for their efforts in ensuring the smooth and safe transit of the Iranian nationals.
The latest diplomatic engagement reflects continued cooperation between Pakistan and Iran on humanitarian issues alongside broader efforts to support regional stability and dialogue.
