Leeds United verbally agree deal with Brighton for Pascal Struijk sale and Harry Wilson move latest

Pascal Struijk looks set to leave Leeds United for a Premier League rival.

Leeds United have verbally agreed a deal for the sale of centre-back Pascal Struijk to Brighton as the Whites close in on their own first signing of the summer.

Struijk’s United contract expires next year and Brighton have now agreed a deal in principle with Leeds to sign the 26-year-old defender this summer.

The fee is billed as undisclosed by Leeds sources but the YEP understands that Brighton will pay in the region of £20m to sign a defender who has amassed 196 appearances for the club since joining Leeds in January 2018 from Ajax, initially playing for the club’s under-21s.

Could have left for nothing next summer

It is believed that Struik was offered a new deal but that the defender wanted a new challenge and Leeds could have seen the defender leave on a free transfer next summer.

Brighton sold their own star centre-back Jan Paul Van Hecke to Tottenham earlier this month for £52m whilst experienced defender Adam Webster is also leaving the Seagulls this summer as his contract expires.

Brighton - who also signed Georginio Rutter from Leeds in August 2024 - have European football to look forward to next season following last season’s eighth-placed finish which sealed qualification for the Europa Conference League.

Leeds are preparing for their second season back in the Premier League and the club agreed a deal to sign Wales international winger Harry Wilson on a free transfer from Fulham last week, Wilson’s Cottagers deal expiring this summer.

The YEP understands that everything remains on track, Wilson just needing to complete his medical and paperwork before sealing his move to Elland Road.
