Kylian Mbappe has reacted to France’s 4-1 thrashing of Norway, as Ousmane Dembele's hat-trick helped secure Les Bleus top spot in their FIFA World Cup group. After Dembele stole the headlines at Boston’s Gillette Stadium on June 26 (ET), the France captain delivered a message on social media.

Kylian Mbappe, with two assists to his name on the night, struck the crossbar in the opening 22 seconds. This came before setting up Dembele for an early opener in what turned out to be a ruthless French display.

He made the second assist by getting the pass through to Dembele, despite being held back and fouled by Norway's defense. The Paris Saint-Germain forward unleashed his curler to make it 2-0 within 20 minutes.

Thelo Aasgaard scored a moment later to make it 2-1, but France had no intentions of playing a back-and-forth game with their Scandinavian opponents. Les Bleus continued to invade those defensive ranks, and Dembele, who was on fire on the day, picked up his third goal in the 32nd minute. It took until injury time for Desire Doue to make it 4-1 for France.
Kylian Mbappe took to social media after the win to write:

The result continued France’s perfect start to the tournament, with Didier Deschamps’ side scoring 10 goals in three group games, conceding only twice. For the first time since they became world champions in 1998, Les Bleus have won all three group matches.
France will now stay in the northeastern USA, awaiting a round-of-32 encounter against a third-place finisher at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on June 30.
Kylian Mbappe and Dembele steal the show as France continue to shine
Kylian Mbappe took the captain’s armband ahead of the game, but it was the reigning Ballon d'Or winner who served as the attacking leader in this game. He notched a first-half hat-trick, the second fastest from the start of a match in World Cup history. He completed his haul in 32 minutes, only behind Austria's Erich Probst in 1954.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward was set up twice by Kylian Mbappe as the attacking chemistry between the two tormented a heavily rotated Norwegian defense. Speaking about his hat-trick afterward, Dembele said (via CBC):
"It is a unique moment. But the most important was to finish first of the group in the group stage, and we are focused on the Round of 32, which is the most important."
Deschamps missed the match following the death of his mother earlier in the week. Assistant coach Guy Stephan took charge of the side, with Kylian Mbappe captaining the team, and said his thoughts were with the head coach on an emotional evening.
